The Film Criticism Forum in Al-Balad, Jeddah, is part of a larger initiative by the Saudi Ministry of Culture and the Film Commission to foster film criticism and culture in Saudi Arabia.

It involves a series of regional forums and a culminating annual conference in Riyadh. The Al-Balad event in Jeddah is part of the first edition of the forum, which also included stops in Dhahran, Abha, Buraidah, and Tabuk.
